Strawberry Banana Protein Smoothie
⏱ 5 min💪 30g protein per serving🔥 ~340 cal🍽 1 large smoothie
This one is for people who do not like protein powder or ran out of it. Greek yogurt and cottage cheese together carry 30 grams of protein, and once blended, the cottage cheese disappears completely into a smooth, creamy base. You cannot taste it. You just get a thicker smoothie.
Ingredients
- 1 cup frozen strawberries
- 1 frozen banana
- 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1/2 cup cottage cheese
- 1/2 cup milk of choice
- 1 tsp honey (optional)
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Add the milk, Greek yogurt, and cottage cheese to the blender.
- Blend those three alone for 20 seconds first. This is what eliminates any cottage cheese texture.
- Add the frozen strawberries, banana, honey, and vanilla.
- Blend on high for another 45 seconds until uniformly pink and smooth.
- Pour and serve cold.
Tips
- Blending the dairy first is the whole trick. Skip it and you get lumps.
- Use full-fat cottage cheese. Low-fat versions blend grainier and taste sharper.
- If it is too thick to pour, add milk a tablespoon at a time rather than dumping more in.
FAQ
- Can I really not taste the cottage cheese?
- Not if you blend it into the liquid first and use a decent blender. The tang reads as yogurt tang.
- Can I add protein powder too?
- Yes. One scoop of vanilla takes it to roughly 55 grams, though you may want an extra splash of milk.
- Will fresh strawberries work?
- They will, but add a cup of ice or the smoothie comes out thin and lukewarm.
